August was a busy month. The highest of peak tourism flowing through Tuscany. I loved it. I enjoy being busy and meeting new people.
This August I welcomed many interesting people. I have met such extraordinary, ordinary people that have come my way and have changed the way I look at my life. A lot of solo travelers stayed here. Solo travels on journeys. One of them was walking to Rome, from Milan. I asked him if he was walking ‘La Via Francigena,’ alas, he was not. He was walking on trails along rivers. When I looked at him startled, he said: ‘Everyone has their own path.’ Another Solo traveler was an american Geologist, Cheyenne, we became friends and spent a glorious day driving around the southern province of Siena one day visiting Montalcino, Pienza, and San Quirico d’Orcia. I learned through another customer that parts of the movie ‘The Gladiator’ were filmed in San Quirico! My first solo traveler from China happened here by mere coincidence. Linda, a teacher from China who was traveling through Italy alone. They have all left their mark. They have left me in awe and inspired to live a fuller, more meaningful existence.
I have decided to no longer watch my life go by, but actively live it and pursue what I really enjoy doing: Serving Delicious Food (not necessarily in Tuscany)
I have decided to go on a solo trip at the end of November. I will be going to the island of Astypalaia, in Greece. I will be soul searching and sorting through successes and failures in my life (thus far)
Tuscans like Tuscan food. Old fashioned Tuscan Food. It can get boring for me sometimes here. I like to live inspired, at it is my customers who inspire me by enjoying my food.
I like variety. I like to change things, I like to taste different flavors, try new combinations of food. Experiment. Sometimes my food combinations may not turn out well, but sometimes, amazing flavors will explode in my mouth and then, I cannot stop smiling and sharing my new discoveries.
I had one such episode this summer.
